The Balance of Nature and the Way of the Druid

This is the tale of my adventures in the sanctuary that is our beloved Shadowglen.

Those who, like me, are eager to listen to nature, felt that something was amiss in the peaceful glen. Feeling uneasy about this sensation, I approaced Conservator Ilthalaine. He told me about the way the spring rainfall affected the fauna in the glen, increasing the numbers of certain animals, thus destroying the delicate balance of the glen. He commanded me with the task of slaying some of the native sabers and boars, as a last resort to control the populations of these creatures. I must admit I didn't find the idea of killing wild beasts too appealing at first, but while doing so I understood the vision the Conservator had. This wouldn't only return some of the balance to the glen; the meat from the boars kept me well fed during my various quests in the area, not to mention that I used my stave skills to fend off the beasts.

However, this was not the only foul thing happening in the glen. I was summoned by one of my masters, Shan'do Melithar Staghelm. He was upset due to the fact that a Dryad was spotted on the areas surrounding Aldrassil. After seeing how worried he was I decided to establish contact with the Dryad, Tarindrella.

Indeed, the Dryad was a beautiful creature. Too bad the news she brought weren't joyful. Tarindrella was deeply worried because a foul corruption was spreading, and fast. The various types of Grellkins that inhabit the glen were starting to become rampant. She suspected that a type of poison was behind this situation and prompted me to find the source of the problem.

It was much to my surprise that I found a strange moss in the encampments of the Grells and on the Grellkins themselves. They were under the influence of a foul [Fel Moss], a type of which I've never seen before. After bringing some samples of this evil plant to Tarindrella, she gave me some advice, but said that the dangers might be even bigger than the eye could see. Maybe this corruption would taint the Furbolgs outside the glen, so she told me to be careful outside of the sanctity of Aldrassil.

These adventures, however, where not the only tasks I performed in the glen. I was instructed in the ways of druidism by the local trainer, the Druid Mardant Strongoak. There's so much power locked within nature itself, its wonderful to delve deeper into its understanding. This also made me realize how little did I knew. So much still to learn.

I also lent a hand to a crafty woman named Dirania. Her problem was indeed strange. On a normal day she gets a visit by a man named Iverron. However, this Iverron fellow, who was very punctual, missed his schedule. He was in dire trouble, as he was bitten by the Webwood spiders living in the northern part of the glen. I managed to locate him resting outside of the Shadowthread Cave, but he needed an antidote, as the poison from the spiders was making him weaker by the minute. Fortunately, Dirania made a concoction from a series of ingredients I brought her.

After ensuring Iverron was safe, I returned to the safety of Aldrassil. Once I arrived there, I heard word that an scholar from Darnassus came to us. His name was Gilshalan Windwalker. Curious about this Gilshalan fellow, I approached him and he tasked me with some duties. He was there doing some research about the varieties of spiders living north of the refuge, in the Shadowthread Cave. However, poison samples from the spiders venom sacs wouldn't suffice, so he asked me to capture an unhatched egg! To fetch him the egg I had to venture inside the depths of the cavern. I spotted some bones there, a very dark reminder of the dangers lurking in the shadows. Thankfully, I was able to locate and secure a spider egg and leave the cave unharmed. Praise be to the Spirits.

Just as I was getting ready to leave the confines and the peace of Shadowglen, I received the news that the watcher of the glen, Tenaron Stormgrip, wanted a word with me. Without waste of time, I rushed to the top of Aldrassil and visited Tenaron. He was glad to see me. He noticed the result of all my efforts, but tasked me with one final quest, one full of meaning to those of my race.

Tenaron gave me a finely crafted [Crystal Phial] and told me of the significance of the magical waters of the Moonwell. He gave me the task of filling the Phial with the pristine waters of the Moonwell and then transport it safely to Dolanaar, where I'd meet a fellow by the name of Corithras. I took some time to reminisce while I stood, serenely, in the vicinity of the crystalline Moonwell. I'll elaborate more on the importance of these structures which hold the sacred water of the Well of Eternity later, because I feel it's important to let you all know why these waters are important to us and to the whole world.

So much has happened in these last hours indeed. I'll most certainly miss the peace and tranquility of my beloved Shadowglen, but alas, the vast world is calling me. I'm sure I'll be able to return here from time to time, though.

I'll be leaving the glen now. I'll travel to the south, to the settlement of Dolanaar. I'm sure I can be of assistance to the people there.
